Connecticut Magazine has released its ratings for small towns with a population of 6,500-10,000 residents and the town of Easton, Connecticut takes the number one spot!

Easton is a traditional New England town with a total area of 28.6 square miles (27.4 square miles of land and 1.2 acres of water) and a population of approximately 7,500 residents. Easton is situated amongst the towns of Weston, Redding, Monroe, Trumbull, Newtown and Fairfield, Connecticut. An easy commute to New York City is via Metro North Train Line at Westport, Fairfield or Bridgeport stations.

Easton’s greatest natural resources are the Aspetuck River and Reservoir. About half of Easton’s land is owned by the Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut which supplies most of the water to the growing populations of the surrounding towns and municipalities. Counted among Easton’s most famous residents was the indomitable Helen Keller, deaf and blind, she championed for the rights and respect of the handicapped until her death in June of 1968. Having spent her final days in Easton, her stately residence at Aspetuck Corners remains a beautiful landmark property.
